To participate in this seminar you will need an Alliance toon in Saufang as the seminar is taking place in World of Warcraft. Guild chat will be used for the discussions. You will need a paid account as full chat function is not available in the 10 day trial accounts.

The seminar will explore options of using online games environments to provide library services, especially in the area of readers advisory services.

To find out more check out the slide share presentation shown left (use the right arrow key to move through it, or you can look at it here), pre-seminar preparation and frequently asked questions. Contact Ellen Forsyth on ellenforsyth@gmail.com for more information.

You will need to do about twenty to sixty minutes of preparation before participating in this seminar. Do not leave it to the last moment.

While holding a seminar in an online environment will be a first for New South Wales public libraries, a very successful science conference was held in World of Warcraft in 2008. You can read a write up of this science conference, it was featured in Online worlds : convergence of the real and the virtual edited by William Sims Bainbridge and there is more information here.

I am an absolute newby to online gaming. I actually bought the game as well so that I could subscribe and play. Have I spent money needlessly? Is it possible to particiapte without purchasing it?
